Course Style Options
To personalize your Blackboard course you can determine which page students see when they enter the course. This course entry page can have a customized banner image that appears across the top of the display. You can also create, move and rename the left course menu buttons in each course.
In the past, instructors were able to edit the left menu button appearance (color and shape) and select page color themes but the current mobile-responsive design does not allow for those options to be edited.
For more information please select from the following:
Set the Course Entry Point
You must have at least one content area available to students to select it as the course entry point.
- On the lower left Control Panel, click on Customization.
- Select Teaching Style.
- Scroll down to the Select Course Entry Point section.
- Select the desired page from the menu.
- Click Submit in the lower right.
Add a Banner Image
The banner image will appear at the top of the course entry page. The banner format is approximately 480 by 80 pixels. We recommend using PowerPoint or another image editor to crop your image to this wide and short shape. Save the edited image to your computer and then use these steps to upload it.
- On the lower left Control Panel, click on Customization.
- Select Teaching Style.
- Scroll down to the Select Banner section.
- Click Browse My Computer.
- Select your image file.
- Click Submit in the lower right.
