KU's Learning Management System

Surveys

Surveys can be created to poll students regarding their individual experiences, behaviors or knowledge. The survey interface is nearly identical to the test interface, with the same question type options. Results are accessed from the Grade Center although no grades are recorded for surveys. Results are only available as aggregated statistics, since the surveys are anonymous.

Instructors have used surveys to:

  • Aid students in gaining insight on how they fit into a larger community
  • Broaden student understanding of shared or differing social characteristics
  • Demonstrate meta concepts
  • Determine skills or knowledge in order to plan coursework or activities. Course content can then be refined to reach learning outcomes in a more targeted fashion.
